The Marlin Club’s Gene Grimes Memorial ILTT Tournament Includes Marlin and Tuna and is on Friday and Saturday, October 4th and 5th of 2019!

Hello All,

I want to let you know that The Marlin Club’s Gene Grimes Memorial ILTT Tournament is being held on Friday and Saturday, October 4th and 5th of 2019 and to let you know that you are invited to enter the tournament and participate. The Marlin Club’s ILTT Tournament is reported to be the oldest tournament in San Diego and this year’s tournament will see a portion of the proceeds go to benefit the Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego.

There are some changes to this year’s tournament to try and make it more appealing to all anglers.  They are bringing back a Tuna Division to go with the Marlin Division and there have been some changes to the minimum line classes in order to make the tournament more user friendly and appealing to more anglers.

The tournament entry also includes a tournament t-short and a ticket to the Awards Dinner to be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday October 6, 2019 at The Marlin Club on Shelter Island.  Marcus Hale of the Cabrilla and Doug Kern of Fisherman’s Landing are the co-chairs of this year’s event and Marcus says that they have put together some fantastic prizes that include custom rod and reel sets with Shimano Talica 25 reels, custom rod and reel sets with Shimano Tranx 500 reels and $100 gift certificates to Fisherman’s Landing.  There will be first, second and third place prizes awarded in both the Marlin Division and the Tuna Division.  In addition to the tournament winning prizes, they will be selling tickets for a “huge” raffle at the Awards Dinner.

The cost of entry is $100 per angler and the rules and entry forms can be found at: themarlinclub.squarespace.com.  They ask that you either mail or drop off your completed entry form and your entry fee at either The Marlin Club or Fisherman’s Landing.  If you have any questions you can call Marcus Hale at (619) 551-6521.

I hope you can come out and participate in The Marlin Club’s Gene Grimes Memorial ILTT tournament.  In addition to the fun involved with fishing in the tournament and having a chance to win some great prizes, you have a chance to help children that are fighting illnesses by having a portion of the tournament proceeds going to benefit the Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego.

Best wishes and good fishing to you!

Bob Vanian
