Bob Woodard at the cockpit controls of his Christina Lynn provides valuable assistance in helping battle a hooked billfish. Believe me in the heat and humidity off mainland Mexico an angler needs all the help he or she can get. January, 2007 |

| A Happy New Year's Day Albacore for Todd Garrett while fishing aboard Bob Hoose's boat Prospector. This fish was the first of 2004 and took first flag honors at the Balboa Angling Club. It was caught on a Sevenstrand "Northern Jig Boat" jig (black, purple and gold) and weighed 26 pounds 12 ounces. It was caught on 20 pound test dacron and was taken 10 miles southeast of the Cortes Bank.....Congratulations go out to Bob and Todd for the first albacore of the 2004! |
After catching the first albacore of 2004 Bob Hoose and Todd Garrett went in to the Cortes Bank proper to look for some yellowtail. What they found were some schools of 8 to 10 pound bonito biting on surface iron. What was more impressive than the bonito fishing was the big surf breaking on the Cortes Bank. Bob reported that there were 15 to 20 foot faces on the waves. |

Deck hand Oscar Partita, from the Grande
take a break for a second for this photo. The Grande scores good, as
Memorial Day fishing 2003 turns out to be a huge success. Nice sacks
full of beautiful albacore were the rule for the day on the boats out on
the outer banks on Saturday and Sunday! Productivity and great fishing
is what to expect at Point Loma Sportfishing.
